Aston Martin reveals AM37 Luxury Yatch
Managing a luxury car company is supposedly one of the toughest jobs on the planet. Such companies cater to a very niche market where buyers have their own manufacturer preferences as well. With plenty of manufacturers catering to different luxury segments, buyers have plenty of options to choose from. When all of the above is combined, taking care of a luxury brand becomes all the more difficult. However, there are a few manufacturers who take a step out from the ordinary to charter untravelled waters to make a name in different classes of the industry that provide a means for travelling.
One such famous company is Aston Martin. The British brand at an event held at the company’s factory and design centre in Gaydon, UK on 27th April previewed digital renderings of a yacht. You read it right, the company has literally taken the term ‘unchartered waters’ very seriously and has even designed a product for the same.
Aston Martin design director Marek Reichman revealed that their new boat AM37 is a super-luxurious gran turismo leisure craft (as the company calls it), which is finished in sculpted wood and hand-stitched leather. The lavish yacht will be available in two different versions. The first is a standard AM37 which will be able to reach a maximum speed of 50 knots (about 58 mph), while the second and more sportier AM37 S will be able to reach a top speed of 60 knots.
The AM37 yacht was designed in line with the manufacturer’s ideology of “heart over mind”, the same reasoning which led them to make many of their sports and super cars. Reichman also said that the yacht takes inspiration from the car models that haven’t yet been revealed to the world and is one reason why the boat will be one that lasts for a long time.
According to the design head, boats and cars are both sculpted pieces of art and the same balance of beauty and engineering is required to make the two. Not much of the design has been revealed yet but the stern resembles the rear of modern Aston Martin cars. The yacht is made from a carbon composite structure that has been created with the help of Dutch naval architects Mulder Design to ensure that it offers car like comfort and performance.
The AM37 will be launched at the Monaco Yacht Show in September 2015 and will be one of the first series of crafts in the Aston Martin powerboat range, according to the chief executive of Quintessence Yachts, Mariella Mengozzi. Quintessence Yachts was specifically selected to build the boats in Southampton, south of England.
So, don’t be surprised if the upcoming yachts are seen in the famous chases of future James Bond movies.
