Maruti`s small hatch back the Alto has achieved a milestone by selling 25 lakh units. This is no mean feat and shows that we Indians love this car so much. This is the second car from the Maruti stable to achieve this milestone after the Maruti 800.

This feat has been achieved in less than 14 years as the Alto was launched in September 2000. It’s been a bestseller since the beginning largely due to its fuel efficiency, cheap spares, ease of driving and Maruti`s fantastic service network across India.

Maruti also exports the Alto to other countries. 2.85 Lakh units of the Alto have been exported which contributes to the 25 lakh sales milestone. Maruti introduced the Alto K10 variant in August 2010 and the company claims to have sold over 4 lakh units. The Alto 800 was introduced in October 2012 and sold one lakh units within four months of its launch.

The 800 cc Alto has been the more popular choice due to its pricing and fuel efficiency. The alto K10 comes with a 1 litre K-series engine. The Alto still sells 25,000 – 30,000 units a month.

The Alto is priced very competitively and starts from Rs 2.72 Lakh and Alto K10`s prices start from 3.15 Lakh, ex-showroom Delhi.
