2017 Jawa 350 – the classic two-wheeler gets a modern touch

2017 Jawa 350

Jawa – a two-wheeler brand that once enjoyed a diverse and cult fan following across the globe, has spirited back to life as the Czech manufacturer has launched the new 2017 Jawa 350 motorcycle in its home market. This marks a relaunch of the Jawa brand, which had previously diminished from the industry due to rising losses. However, the Jawa brand was recently bought by Indian automaker Mahindra & Mahindra, marking the return of the classic motorcycle manufacturer.

While this new bike continues to adorn Jawa’s conventional and traditional design elements, it gets some comprehensive updates under the sheet metal, making it compliant with Euro-IV emission norms that allow it to be sold in all major automotive markets of the world.

Powering the 2017 Jawa 350 is a 350 cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine that churns out 26 BHP and 32 Nm of peak torque. Transmission duties are handled by a 4-speed gearbox, while the bike can achieve a top speed of 120 km/h. Jawa indicates that this particular power plant has been sourced from a Chinese auto parts maker named Shineray. Essentially, this engine block is a re-engineered and re-tuned version of a Honda engine.

The 2017 Jawa 350 is fairly modern in the tech domain as well. The bike comes with electronic fuel injection, which is essential for a bike to be compliant with BS-IV emission norms. Additionally, it gets an Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) as standard, boosting the bike’s safety prospects. This ABS system complements the Jawa 350’s contemporary braking setup that includes a 305 mm disc at the front and a 160 mm drum at the rear.

Would you prefer a Jawa 350 over the Royal Enfield Classic 350.
