SPIED: Skoda Rapid facelift exposed inside-out
The new facelifted 2016 Skoda Rapid has recently been spotted testing, thus exposing important design elements of the exteriors as well as interiors. The Rapid facelift is currently under the last stages of testing, and is expected to be officially unveiled in August 2016. The new Skoda Rapid will mark the second launch from the Czech stable, after the recently unveiled 2016 Skoda Superb.
Though the model spotted testing was significantly camouflaged, basic design characteristics on the updated Rapid can easily be seen. The new Rapid features a redesigned bumper, new headlights, refurbished grille, a newly contoured bonnet, and more bulging front fenders. All these design changes do point to the fact that the updated Skoda rapid might feature the same front fascia that currently adorns the Euro-spec Rapid.
On the inside, the cabin gets a dual tone layout, with the dashboard and seats adorned in black-beige shade. It also appears to be significantly and sufficiently loaded, and borrows the equipment from the 2016 Volkswagen Vento, including rain sensing wipers, phone book and SMS viewer, auto dimming IRVM, and a new Mirrorlink infotainment system.
Being just a cosmetic facelift, the new 2016 Skoda Rapid will continue to be powered by a 1.6-litre MPI petrol, and a 1.5-litre TDI diesel engine. The petrol will be offered with either a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic gearbox, while the diesel variant will get a 5-speed manual as standard, and an optional 7-speed automatic transmission.
