2016 Mitsubishi Lancer revealed
Japanese auto giant, Mitsubishi has revealed the 2016 edition of its renowned sedan, Lancer. The recently overhauled saloon is available in two variants namely ES and GT. ES is the entry level variant and GT is placed above the ES. The updated saloon features exterior styling changes and additional fitments which are included both on the outside as well as inside. Starting with the base ES trim, it gets auto on/off head lamps, modified alloy wheels, rain sensitive wipers, daytime running lights for fog lamps and much more. The cabin is equipped with an automatic air conditioning unit, rear view parking camera, colour LCD display, climate control and FUSE hands free link system.
The GT trim is relatively sportier and is bestowed with an assertive styling on the outside. The suspension has been revamped ensuring enhanced handling; disc brakes fitted in the vehicle are larger than the outgoing version. Nothing has changed in terms of mechanical set-up, there are two engine choices which includes a low displacement 2.0 litre motor outputting 150 PS and a 2.4 litre, DOHC mill capable of producing 170 PS/226 Nm. The ES trim gets the 2.0 litre engine and the GT variant gets the more powerful 2.4 litre power plant. Both the engines are mated to a five-speed manual transmission and a CVT8 gearbox with paddle shifters is available as an optional provision. Launched internationally, the 2016 Lancer is priced at $17.595 which is roughly around Rs. 11.7 lakh in India.
Moreover, Mitsubishi has phased out the Lancer Evolution and brought in a new Lancer Ralliart which sits amid the GT trim and Evo. The new Ralliart gets a 2.0 litre, I4, DOHC motor and a dual-clutch gearbox.
