2016 Hyundai Tucson India launch on the cards
Hyundai is known to sell some of the best cars and many of its models have been doing very well in the country. One such model is the newly launched Creta SUV. Hyundai retails another SUV in India, Santa Fe, however, the Santa Fe has not been able to find decent sales for the company even though it is one of the best SUV’s in its class.
Banking on the Creta’s success, it looks like Hyundai might bring another SUV to India – Tucson. Many would have heard this name because previous generation model of the same SUV was sold in India a few years back. The present model is in its third generation and it’s based on the company’s Fluidic 2.0 Sculpture that makes it look very attractive. It’s also easy to notice that the Tucson looks pretty similar to the Creta and Santa Fe.
The Tucson might be brought to India in a couple of years and it will directly fit between the Creta and Santa Fe models in India. Front styling has sharp headlights, three-slat chrome grille, fog lamps and daytime running lights present on the front bumper. Side profile has a sloping roofline, 5-spoke alloy wheels and black cladding. Rear styling has wraparound taillights, spoiler and it looks like the Creta to quite an extent.
Powering the Tucson will be two diesel engines. These engines includes a 1.7-litre engine that develops 114 BHP of power and a 2.0-litre engine that develops 182 BHP of power. Both the engines come mated to a 6-speed automatic gearbox.
The interior has a plain dashboard with a not so exciting design. Features like touchscreen infotainment system, steering mounted audio controls, automatic climate control, etc. makes the overall layout feel rich. Adding to this, the Tucson SUV also comes with technologies like Lane Keeping Assist, Autonomous Emergency Braking, Smart Powered Tailgate and Blind Spot Assist System.
If launched in India, the Tucson should be priced somewhere in the region of Rs. 18 lakhs (ex-showroom).
