Fiat Tipo hatchback spied testing prior to unveil in March 2016
Fiat is not a very popular brand in the international automotive market as compared to other mass market car manufacturers. The Italian company has been somewhat slow to introduce new models in the now extremely competitive car industry.
But, Fiat is looking to get back into the game with its new Tipo C-segment sedan that is expected to replace the old Linea. The Tipo will also be made available in other countries as a hatchback. The hatchback was just spied testing as pictures of the test mule have been doing their rounds on the internet. Exterior wise, the Tipo hatch will look very similar to the sedan version. Front end will be exactly the same, but the rear end will be very different.
Though the rear end has been heavily camouflaged, we can notice that the rear will have a massive tailgate mounted spoiler, arc shaped taillights and a number plate enclosure placed on the tailgate instead of the bumper.
The interiors are expected to be similar to the sedan, which is a dual-tone grey and black dashboard that gets various aluminium inserts. There will be a large touchscreen infotainment system at the centre of the dashboard, a three-spoke steering wheel with integrated controls and a twin-pod instrument cluster.
Mechanically, two petrol and two diesel engines will power the Tipo hatchback. Among the petrol will be a 1.4-litre and a 1.6-litre unit. Diesel mills will include the famous 1.3-litre and 1.6-litre units. All the engines will come paired to 5-speed manual or 6-speed manual gearboxes in addition to a 6-speed automatic transmission.
A lot is expected from the upcoming Tipo models. The hatchback will be uncovered at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2016, till then let’s hope Fiat does not disappoint its fans all over the world.
