2016 Chevrolet Spark unveiled: Images and Details

2016 Chevrolet Spark

The 2016 Chevrolet Spark was unveiled at 2015 New York Motor Show and it looks very different from the current car which is on sale. The first thing that comes to my mind when I look at the new Spark is it looks like a Hyundai product. Has Chevrolet got Hyundai designers on board, that`s what I`ve been asking myself.
Chevrolet claims that the new Spark offers improved mileage and refinement from the new 1.4 Ecotec engine which bangs out 98 bhp of power. It is 16 percent more powerful than the existing model. The engine is mated to an automatic (CVT) or manual transmission.

The new Chevrolet Spark is built on an all-new platform which offers better handling and dynamics. The styling and design of the car is more aerodynamic and sleeker than the current model which is sportier and looks quite different from the rest of the cars.

On the exterior the 2016 Chevrolet Spark features swept back headlights with a hexagonal shaped grille, sloping roof, sharp creases on the bonnet and sides and a new tailgate with integrated spoiler. The company says that the new spark will get more comfortable seats with better quality fabrics.

The Detroit based car manufacturer has loaded the 2016 Chevrolet Spark with a lot of safety-tech such as Forward Collision Alert and Lane Departure Warning System and Blind Spot Alert. To make parking in tight spots easier a rear view camera is offered as part of the equipment list.

2016 Chevrolet Spark rear profile

The new Spark comes with a slightly longer wheelbase and lower height than the current model. Chevrolet says this helps in reducing the aerodynamic drag and improves fuel efficiency. The company claims that there is enough headroom for passengers despite the reduced height. The 2016 Chevrolet Spark will be offered in 40 markets and will hit the showrooms in the United States in the last quarter of 2015. We`re not sure if this car will be coming to India but it would be a good move if Chevrolet plans to launch it in India considering the demand for hatchbacks in the country.
