2016 Chevrolet Cruze launched in India, priced from Rs. 14.68 lakhs
Chevrolet retails some impressive vehicles in the Indian car market. However, the company’s lack of product upgrades and poor after sales servicing has led customers to other showrooms instead. One such good car is the Cruze. Popularly called ‘Diesel Rocket’, the Cruze was a very popular model when first introduced in India, but its sales died in the subsequent years.
In line with this, Chevrolet has just launched the new Cruze in India at a starting price of Rs. 14.68 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi). Boasting of the most powerful diesel engine in its class, the new Cruze is not much different as compared to the model it replaces. Design wise, the updated model gets a fresh front end that includes a split front grille with chrome slats, new projector fog lights and LED daytime running lights.
The cabin gets a host of feature upgrades like the new MyLink infotainment system which includes a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Bluetooth audio streaming and phone telephony with voice recognition control, SIRI EYES FREE Compatibility, Grace Note and internet radio; multi-function steering wheel with mounted controls and a rear parking camera.
Under the hood is the same 2.0-litre, turbocharged VCDi diesel mill that churns out a healthy 164 BHP of power and 380 Nm of torque. Power is sent to the wheels by either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic gearbox. Fuel economy figures for the manual is rated at 17.9 km/l and 14.81 km/l for the automatic transmission, respectively.
Being a fast sedan, the Chevrolet Cruze comes equipped with pretty decent safety tech including the likes of two side airbags, two front airbags, ABS with electric sensors, programmable automatic door locking, anti-theft alarm and immobilizer. Prices (ex-showroom, Delhi) of all the variants are as follows:
Chevrolet Cruze LT (MT): Rs. 14.68 lakhs
Chevrolet Cruze LTZ (MT): Rs. 16.75 lakhs
Chevrolet Cruze LTZ (AT): Rs. 17.81 lakhs
