2016 Chevrolet Camaro is Slimmer and Faster
So the new 2016 Chevrolet Camaro was recently unveiled in front of a group of Camaro enthusiasts in Detroit. Chevy`s legendary sports car makes its debut to take on its arch rivals the challenger and Mustang.
If you see the car rolling down the street you wouldn’t really notice that it’s the new generation vehicle, unless you give it a closer look .The car has been given subtle changes on the outside, undergone a weight loss program and comes in a number of engine variants. The 2016 Chevy Camaro`s specifications reveal that the car has shed about 200 pounds compared to its ongoing model, out of which 134 pounds can be credited to the body-in-white. The engineers behind the development of the vehicle have taken every measure possible to use lighter body parts and aluminum in as many places as possible.
The new car is about two inches shorter in length, an inch shorter in height and an inch slimmer than its ongoing model. The slimming down and increase in structural rigidity, gives this rear wheel drive car better performance. A lot of technologies incorporated from the Cadillac and Corvette can be seen over here, though it`s claimed about 70% of the technology is unique to the Camaro.

Apart from all this the 2016 Chevy Camaro comes in a number of engine options. The top of the line variant is a 6.2 L V8 banging out 455 bhp and about 455 pounds of torque. Those numbers are super impressive. The engine (called the LT1) comes in a cast aluminum block and has aluminum cylinder heads. Coupled with direct injection and variable valve timing technology, this car will be fun to drive and wouldn’t burn as much fuel as you think it will.
Other engine options include a super charged 2.0 liter petrol engine that promises performance and power. It bangs out 275 bhp and about 295 lb-ft of torque. The engine features variable valve timing, direct injection and aluminum components. It is said to be the most fuel efficient Camaro ever. Let`s hope it doesn’t compromise on the driving pleasure that the Camaro is famous for. The other engine option available is the naturally aspirated 3.6 L V6 that sounds like it packs a punch. Power is transmitted to the wheels via two options. The 2016 Chevrolet Camaro gets a 6-speed manual or an 8-speed auto with paddle shifters. The V8’s manual has rev-matching technology, and blips every time you down shift!
The exteriors of the car look more or less the same. No dramatic changes here, just subtle changes to make the car more aggressive looking. The sharp lines on the side going all the way to the back, give the car a compact feel. On the interiors the car has a revamped dashboard, with a huge 8 inch screen to display vital car info, and house multimedia needs.
Here`s hoping the car makes its way to Indian shores. Let us know what you think of the new Camaro in the comments section below!
