2015 Volkswagen Polo gets additional features on all variants
Competition in the premium hatchback space has heated up owing to the recently launched Honda Jazz. Though the Jazz has become an instant hit in the Indian market, the Hyundai Elite i20 has once again crept its way above the Jazz in August, garnering more sales. One vehicle that is heavily losing out in this battle is the Volkswagen Polo.
The German hatchback is nowhere near the aforementioned hatchbacks and is struggling to keep selling in consistent numbers. In order to make the Polo a more capable rival, Volkswagen has just updated the hatch with added features. In line with the oncoming festive season, the 2015 Volkswagen Polo now comes with a starting price tag of Rs. 5.24 lakhs (ex-showroom, Mumbai).
Available for purchase from the beginning of this month, the Polo Highline variant (top-end) now comes with a cooled glove box, cruise control, and electrically foldable side rear view mirrors with integrated turn indicators. The lower spec Comfortline and Trendline variants on the other hand just get the wing mirror mounted side turn indicators.
The additional features are available with all of the engine options – 2 diesel (1.5-litre TDI and 1.5-litre GT TDI) and 2 petrol (1.2-litre MPI and 1.2-litre GT TSI). Adding to online reports, the Cross Polo will also be getting the new features.
The festive season has always made car makers in the country offer various limited edition models and mega discounts. Volkswagen India is hoping to utilize the season for reaping maximum benefits as well. The Polo stands out among the Elite i20 and Jazz, however, the latter two stand out to be more practical products with their convenient after sales servicing and features offered. Only time will tell whether the updated Polo will find more customers or not, but the upcoming Maruti Suzuki Baleno will not be making things any better for the Polo.
