2015 Nissan Micra XL CVT & X-Shift Limited Edition Launched At Rs. 6.34 Lakhs

Nissan Micra X-Shift launched in India

Japanese auto major Nissan is not doing that well in India. The company could not capture the mass market segment with low cost brand Datsun as well due to many reasons. Anyhow, Nissan Motor India Private Limited is trying hard to get sales going in our country by employing various marketing gimmicks.

The company has just launched the Micra XL CVT and the limited edition Micra X-Shift, celebrating the fifth year anniversary of the Micra’s launch in India. The XL CVT model has been priced at Rs. 6.34 lakhs (ex-showroom Delhi) and it basically carries the same specifications as the XL variant which is retailing in the market at present, except that the new model uses a CVT transmission instead of the manual gearbox. Earlier, Nissan had only made the CVT transmission available on the top-end XV trim. Therefore, the company has made the automatic hatchback much more affordable in the country and it may result in finding more buyers.

However, the XV variant remains to be more feature rich than the XL variant getting a push-button start, automatic climate control, steering mounted audio controls, electrically adjustable ORVMs, passenger side airbag, alloy wheels, fog lamps and rear power windows.

The Micra X-Shift limited edition on the other hand costs the same as the Micra XL but gets a few cosmetic changes such as a matte black wrapped roof, black side decals which are present on the bottom side of the hatch and a chrome tip exhaust. Limited to just 750 units, the interiors gets LED scuff plates that lend a little premium feeling and the limited edition model gets the steering wheel which is found on the Sunny sedan featuring steering mounted audio controls.
