2015 MINI Countryman launched in India at Rs. 36.50 lakhs
Not many people in the country are aware of the sheer brand value of MINI. The MINI brand originally was known to bring out the Morris Mini-Minor, which was a small economy car that was produced from 1959 to 2000 in Britain. The model became an icon soon after its launch and was also voted as the second most influential car of the 20th century. Owned by German luxury car maker BMW, the MINI brand was introduced in our country not so long ago, serving niche products in the luxury space.
BMW has gone out and launched the 2015 MINI Countryman in India at a price tag of Rs. 36.50 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi). The new model has been updated featuring many changes in the exterior and interior departments. It is being imported as a CBU (hence the high pricing) and is only retailed with a 2.0-litre turbocharged, four-cylinder diesel engine that churns out 112 HP and 270 Nm of torque. The diesel mill comes paired to a 6-speed automatic transmission.
Starting out with the changes outside the vehicle, the 2015 model gets a new front end with a fresher front grille, redesigned bonnet, LED foglamps and xenon headlights. It gets an increased ground clearance with massive wheel arches that hold the 17-inch alloys very comfortably. The muscular rear end gets stylish LED backlights that have been arranged vertically along with sporty twin exhausts.
On the interior front, new colours, materials, panoramic sunroof and height adjustable sport seats gives a very unique appeal to the car unlike any another offering in the Indian market. The dashboard incorporates a 6.5-inch touchscreen infotainment unit which comes with an amazing 10 speaker, 640 watt Harman Kardon music system. Safety tech is also galore including the likes of 6 airbags, ABS, Dynamic Traction Control, Dynamic Stability Control, 3-point seat belts, Run-flat indicator and Brake Assist. The 2015 Countryman is available with nine metallic and two non-metallic colours and will be retailed only through four exclusive dealerships in Delhi, Bangalore, Hyderabad and Mumbai respectively.
