The 2015 Mahindra XUV500 facelift news has been doing the rounds on the internet for quite some time now. With its launch expected to happen by the end of next month, a production ready mule was recently spotted without camouflage courtesy Team-BHP.

From the earlier spy shots, it was predicted that most of the changes would only be cosmetic. From these images, it is clear that what we guessed was right. The new visible changes in the updated XUV500 can be seen across its front fascia with the new S-shaped LED daytime running lights along with the newly designed projector lamp units. The glitzy chrome circling around the fog lights at the front is a very impressive and clear change. The side profile of the SUV remains the same except for the newly designed alloy wheels.

Inside the cabin one prominent change that can be seen is the newly designed center console with the cowl above the infotainment system probably to avoid the reflection on the infotainment screen. Plum color upholstery and plastic inserts to give a premium feel are the other new changes to make the interiors of the XUV500 more upmarket.

The rear of the XUV500 features a newly designed LED lit spoiler mounted stoplight which grabs your attention. One more thing which catches the eyeballs is the area, which surrounds the rear number plate appears to be revised too.

Mechanically, as it was expected, power to the 2015 Mahindra XUV500 facelift comes from the same 2.2-litre diesel mill which bangs out 140 bhp and 330 NM of torque coupled to a 6 speed manual gearbox. It is quite possible that Mahindra might even introduce the 6-speed automatic transmission recently seen on Mahindra-owned SsangYong’s Tivoli Compact SUV.

As the changes aren’t abundant, but restricted to minor cosmetic updates, we expect the price tag to not fluctuate too much, roughly to be in the range of INR 11-15 lakhs. As the spied vehicle is a production ready model, we can expect Mahindra to launch the highly anticipated XUV500 facelift sometime next month. Once launched, it is going to compete with the likes of Renault Duster, Skoda Yeti, Nissan Terrano and Tata Safari Storme.
