2015 Hyundai Verna spotted testing, expected launch in Feb 2015
After its launch in 2011 the Hyundai Verna wasn’t given any attention, and Hyundai concentrated on marketing the face lifted Elantra and Hyundai i20. 2015 will be a very exciting year for the Indian automobile industry, with a lot of facelifts of current models coming out. Rumors were making the rounds claiming Hyundai would be launching the Solaris in India, but according to the spy shots seen online, it is clear, its only a face lifted Verna as the Solaris is a much bigger vehicle. The Solaris would probably launch as another model all together, but for now Hyundai only plans to introduce a face lifted Verna.
The changes on the outside are merely cosmetic and minimum. The 2015 Hyundai Verna will sport a new hexagonal grill that is based on the fluidic designing style as seen on the recently launched i20. Even an updated front and back bumper are seen but nothing dramatic. The car will have a new infotainment system, with a touch screen center console and more interactive features. Also the number of airbags will be increased to 4 in the high end models.
Hyundai plans to do a lot of changes on the 2015 Verna, which are not cosmetic. The first Verna was infamous for having a bad suspension set up. On the first update Hyundai worked hard to iron out these problems. The changes made were immediately notable, but there was still some room for improvement. With the new face lifted Verna, Hyundai has done rigorous testing to evolve the suspension set up and improve the dynamics of the car.
The Verna`s sales have been declining, because of competition from its Japanese rivals, the Ciaz and City. Both the cars have a reputation of being trust worthy and reliable with good driving dynamics. Hyundai has taken note of this and plans to improve on it. It is not clear if there will be any changes to the mechanicals of the car. Currently, the Verna is available with a 1.4/1.6 litre petrol and a 1.4/1.6 litre diesel engine with manual and auto transmission. Both the engines are smooth and offer impressive fuel economy.
The car has been spotted testing in the country, and even though a lot is not clear, cosmetic changes are evident. The updated Hyundai Verna should be available in the first week of February 2015, and expect it to be priced higher than the current Verna.
