2015 Ford Everest aka Endeavour in India gets 5 star rating in ANCAP tests

The 2015 version of Ford’s Everest SUV which will be sold in India as Endeavour has cleared the ANCAP tests with a high score of 35.98/37. Hence, the SUV has received a five star rating in the crash test. The tests were conducted on the all-wheel drive automatic variant of the SUV available on the Trend trim. Under the hood is a massive 3.2 litre, five cylinder, turbo diesel engine that weighs 2370 kg. Features like emergency brake assist, electronic brake force distribution, side chest airbags, dual front airbags, side curtain airbags and driver knee airbags are available as standard fitments. In the pedestrian test, the SUV scored a good 25.02 points out of 36 and has been labelled ‘good’ in whiplash protection. In the frontal crash test, the SUV scored 15.8 out of 16, while it received full points in the side pole crash and side impact tests.

According to the ANCAP report, insignificant damage was caused to the passenger compartment, airbag contact to passenger was stable, steering wheel was stable and pedal displacements were also negligibly affected. Besides, the report also suggested that additional force had to be exerted for opening the doors post the crash.
