The 2014 Maruti Swift gets news alloys, keyless entry and start stop system but no DRLs

Maruti Suzuki is all geared up to introduce its much awaited new Swift facelift; bookings have opened across dealerships, which indicate that the launch is round the corner. Maruti Swift fans who desire the new Swift facelift, can book their dream car by making a payment of Rs 10,000, at any of the 1370 dealerships across India.

Although bookings are open, the company has not yet provided a confirmation on the launch date. Sources say the arrival of new Swift facelift is likely to happen in early November. Maruti Suzuki, few days ago introduced a demo of the new Swift facelift car, which is also an indication that the launch will happen anytime soon. Consumers can test drive the demo cars to experience the new Swift.

Like the previous models, the 2014 Swift will feature a host of changes, most of them being under the skin. The company has made cosmetic changes which include new alloy wheels, and a new bumper. The back and side profiles are however the same, and the Indian spec car will not have LED daytime running lights. The interiors are packed with visible upgrades in the form of a new four speaker music system with Aux, USB and Bluetooth connectivity, height adjustable driver seat, start and stop button. The higher variants come loaded with reverse parking sensors, keyless entry and auto folding outer rear view mirrors.

Maruti Suzuki has retained the mechanical properties of the car, the 2014 Maruti Swift will be launched with a 1.3 litre four cylinder DDiS diesel motor and 1.2 litre four cylinder K-series petrol engine. The company has tweaked the engines to generate higher mileage efficiency than its predecessor. The new Swift will retain the same five speed manual gearbox, and sources say, there may be a four speed automatic unit on offer, adopted from Swift Dzire expected to be incorporated in the petrol Swift.

The top of the line 2014 Maruti Swift will offer immense occupant security with the inclusion of standard safety features such as Brake Assist, EBD, ABS and dual front airbags. The new Swift has just become more technology and feature rich, and will also come with a price tag dearer by Rs 15,000 to 25,000 depending on the variant. Expect the new Swift to be priced higher than the current car which is priced between Rs 4.42 to 6.7 lakhs (ex-showroom, New Delhi)

The new Maruti Swift with cosmetic upgrades to the exterior and interior make it a fierce contender in the premium hatchback segment. Its arch rivals are the Honda Brio, Ford Figo, Fiat Punto Evo, and Hyundai i20 and Volkswagen Polo.
