1 Lakh Amaze sedans sold in India! Fastest Honda to reach this milestone

Honda launched the Amaze compact sedan in April 2013 and it has sold more than 1 lakh units in just 16 months. This is the fastest milestone achieved by Honda since its foray into the Indian car market.

Right from the time Honda launched its first car in India, the first-generation City, Honda has become popular for its extremely reliable, low maintenance and high performance petrol engines. With rising fuel prices the City lost its market share to rivals which had diesel powered cars. What Honda did to recover from this situation is a well-known fact. It launched the Amaze with a diesel engine plonked under the hood. And as we all know the rest is history.

Honda Amaze

The Amaze is based on the Brio hatchback from Honda. It is available with the tried and tested 1.5 i-VTEC petrol motor and the 1.5 litre i-DTEC diesel motor. The Amaze is available in 12 trim levels – E, EX, S, SX & VX (Petrol and Diesel Manual Transmission) and S and VX (Automatic Transmission in Petrol). Honda`s foray into diesel engines was with the Amaze and it has paid off handsomely. We Indian`s love diesel cars and Honda has done the right thing by launching the Amaze in the diesel avatar.

The Honda Amaze bagged the title of “Car of the Year” and “Compact sedan of the Year” and clinched 12 major automobile awards during the period 2013 – 14.
