1.0 litre EcoBoost engine from Ford wins International engine of the year award for the third consecutive time
The award winning 1.0 litre EcoBoost engine from Ford wins the International Engine of the year award for the third consecutive time. The EcoBoost engine from Ford was pitted against premium brands and won the award for its refinement, performance, economy, drivability and performance. The EcoBoost engine is known for its performance without compromising on fuel efficiency.
The EcoBoost had to face immense competition and a panel of 82 automobile journalists from 35 countries also named the EcoBoost the best engine under the 1.0 litre class for the third consecutive year in a row at Engine Expo 2014 organised in Stuttgart, Germany.
Ford vehicles equipped with the 1.0 litre EcoBoost engine are available in 72 countries. In India the EcoBoost engine is available on the Ecosport Titanium and Titanium (O) variants. This pint sized motor is capable of producing 125 PS of power and 170 Nm of torque on the Ecosport.
The EcoBoost engine is very compact, and features a low inertia turbocharger which spins at up to 248,000 rpm.The 1.0 litre engine features a cylinder head which comes with an integrated and cooled exhaust manifold that ensures optimization of fuel-to-air ratio. The flywheel has an innovative design and the front pulley design delivers improved refinement when compared with traditional three cylinder engines.
The 1.0 litre EcoBoost engine packs a host of features and technology innovation which was developed by more than 200 engineers and designers from Ford`s research and development centres in Germany and the United Kingdom. We wish Ford plonks the EcoBoost engine under the hood of the 2014 Ford Fiesta which has been recently launched in India.
